26 Weeks Pregnant - OOPS a little late!

Your baby weighs almost 2 pounds, measures around 14 inches from head to heel, and hears noises, responds to light, and is generally more aware of its surroundings. In the same way that you can see a flashlight if you hold it against your palm, your baby can see the light coming through your belly. You may notice increased activity when in brighter light and decreased activity in darkened rooms. Its hearing is fully developed, and as he or she reacts to sounds, its pulse increases. Your baby may even move in rhythm to music!

Feel like you're carrying the Karate Kid with all the kicking going on? Your baby is actually practicing all kinds of movements that will eventually be used in life on the outside — including pedaling against your belly, a sort of prewalking skill. As your baby's nervous system becomes more developed, the movements will become much more coordinated. And as the baby gets bigger and stronger, the movements will become much more powerful…and occasionally, even painful to you. If your baby lands a good one, that tiny left hook might hurt — a lot. Another trick she may try — stretching that leg out so far that the foot becomes lodged between your ribs (ouch). Next time you come under attack, try changing positions or doing some stretches of your own. You can also gently push your baby back with your hand when your knee-jerker jerks a little too hard. You just might be able to send your slugger back into the corner of the ring!

We have been super busy these past few days and that combined with the fact that we lost our internet for awhile means my week 26 post is late! It's almost 27 already!!!

We got our home office moved upstairs to make room for the nursery. It took a bit of time rewiring and getting everything set up again, but it looks great and I love it as it is much more comfortable for me. We then washed down all the walls and got the chair rail hung and painted. Bryon is working on finishing up the painting this week. Then we will get all the furniture in and I'll get to start to decorate. YAY!

With the help of my wonderful sister-in-law and niece, I was able to finish up the registry on Sunday too! They were great and helped me so much! Luckily we got everything accomplished! Perfect timing as all the shower invites are going out this week. I can't wait - it will be so much fun!!

Everyone keeps asking how I have been feeling and honestly I feel great!! Of course I have your typical aches and pains that come along with carrying a load of the size of my belly, but I can't complain as I have had a fantastic pregnancy and am extremely blessed!

It's hard to believe in 3 months or less there will be another Crowley in this household! Time flies that is for sure!

XOXO

25 Weeks Pregnant and Back from Vacation

Baby is the size of an eggplant!!!!

And I decided to wear eggplant! What are the odds!!?

Your baby is growing by leaps and bounds, reaching nine inches in length and passing the pound and a half mark. Under her skin, capillaries are forming and filling with blood and by week's end, air sacs (also lined with capillaries) will develop in her lungs, getting them ready for that first breath. Mind you, those lungs aren't ready for prime time just yet — but they are developing surfactant, a substance that will help them expand after birth. And speaking of breathing, your baby's tiny nostrils, which have been plugged up until now, are starting to open, and his vocal chords are getting ready to roar.

Well baby girl finally decided to make her grand appearance! I know I was showing before, but NOW.... well now she is definitely on board for everyone to notice! It seemed to happen when we were in Mexico. I figure that she was so excited she was finally warm, that she didn't think it was necessary to be curled up in a ball anymore and decided to fully stretch out! Or maybe it was the daily breakfasts, lunches, dinners and desserts! Oh well - it's time!!! The doctor even confirmed it on Wednesday that it was certainly time for me to put on that weight! Weird to hear that! She has also decided that she likes to rock and roll all night and party every day! Any time I sit or lay still she throws a party in there! :)

Our vacation was AMAZING! We spent the first few days in Breckenridge with Bryon's two sisters, a brother-in-law, 3 nephews and his father! This year was different that I couldn't be up in the mountains skiing with him, but I kept occupied with visiting, shopping and of course some time at the spa! Plus, it was awesome to have some family time! However, it snowed EVERY single day while we were there and I was more than happy to head down the mountain last Wednesday and head to Puerto Vallarta.

Ahhhh... Puerto Vallarta.... it was so very nice to get warm finally!!! I wasn't sure how it was going to go since this would be not quite the adventuresome vacations we are used to, but it was fantastic!! We lounged by the pool, by the ocean, had so much yummy food, explored the city and the jungle, escaped to a beautiful nightime island getaway and got to explore another gorgeous island and witnessed some wonderful whale play! We also did quite a bit of shopping for Little Miss and I realized her Daddy is going to completely spoil her! He wanted to buy everything! She got the cutest dresses and hats!

Now we are back home and working on getting back into the swing of things. We have A LOT to do to prepare now for the baby and we need to get on it!

24 Weeks!!

Your baby weighs more than a pound and a half right now and sports a crown-to-rump length of about eight and a half inches (standard letter size!). At this point in fetal development, that beautiful face (though still tiny) is almost fully formed.

Wondering what (and who) your baby will look like? If you had a baby cam at 24 weeks pregnant, you'd almost be able to tell by now. That beautiful face (though still tiny) is almost fully formed. What's still missing from the picture is the fat that will be piled on under baby's skin. Until those fat deposits are made, that very tender skin is still very transparent, which means a close look would let you see clear through to all the organs, bones, and blood vessels. Fortunately, that see-through look won't last much longer. Babies at this stage of fetal development are gaining about six ounces each week — with much of that gain coming from fat, in addition to growing organs, bones, and muscle.

What's been playing on your little rocker's stereo system these days? All kinds of sounds can be heard by your baby in your womb: from air exhaling from your lungs (deep breath now), those gastric gurgles produced by your stomach and intestines, your voice and your partner's (which your baby will be able to recognize at birth), and even very loud sounds such as honking horns, barking dogs, or a wailing fire truck."

Where have the past 6 months gone?! I can't believe we are this far along already!! And hey - it's great to be celebrating the beginning of month 6 in beautiful Puerto Vallarta!! We've been having a great and relaxing time. This is definately a different kind of vacation, but fantastic none the less. We need to enjoy every last second of our babymoon!

Week 23

Your little doll-sized babe is about to chub up a bit. Her saggy skin will start to fit her frame as fat deposits fill things out. Beginning this week, she'll start to pack on the pounds (which means you will too!) and by month's end she'll be double the weight he is now (though you won't be — whew!). Right now, your baby's organs and bones are visible through her skin, which has a red hue due to developing veins and arteries beneath. But once those fat deposits settle in, she'll become less transparent.

Week 23 is almost over actually, but due to preparing and being on vacation, I have slacked off on my weekly reports! All is well out in Breckenridge. The skiers have been having a good time and us others have been having a good time relaxing and shopping, etc. I could really do without the snow by now as it hasn't stopped snowing since we got here on Friday. I am so ready for sun and sand!!!

Baby is doing well, although, she is growing like a weed and putting new pressure (pain) on my belly, hips, joints, etc. It's a strange phenomenon to go from feeling physically fit to feeling like I am 80 trying to walk around or doing something simple like sit up and get out of bed! I know, I know... it is only going to get worse!!! It's good though to see that she is growing like she should be and it is about time after all. I will be 24 weeks (6 mos.) in 2 days so she is right on track!!! Momma just needs to get used to the additional pounds!!

Week 24 will hopefully be reported from the beach (depending on WiFi coverage in Mexico)!

Lots of love,

Bryon & Trish
