So last night was the first night we didn't have internet access... but all was well - we were with our family anyhow... Mr. & Mrs. Johnny Crowley. Yesterday we drove down to Kinsale a very quaint fishing village. However, the weather was not all that cooperative and our photos have many clouds in them. From there we continued on the very typical windy roads down to Clonakilty, stopped in Timoleague at the Friary. We just heard today that the Crowleys used to run the place all the way back in the 1400's. We made our way through Dunmanway (where it is reported the Crowley's originated some time ago). We've seen many a bar or a optician, pharmicist, etc...advertising the Crowley name. Then, we finally arrived in Bantry. (Bantry happened to be a last minute decision and wow --- what a great one it was!) We stayed in a B&B in the last room available (they called it the bicycle shop) but except for the lack of internet... it was rather outstanding. The view... well just look at the pictures... you just can't EVER beat that. We headed into Bantry Bay... toured the area for a bit... and then had a few Smithwick's at the Crowley Bar. Let's just say...we felt quite at home. The owner had a strong resemblance to Bryon's grandfather Barney and his brother Kevin (Can you hear me now?!?!?) HA HA HA HA~!
This morning we had a lovely traditional Irish Breakfast and were able to chat extensively w/Mr. & Mrs. Crowley. Johnny actually is a member of the Crowley Clan and provided us a booklet on the Crowley family origin. It was very interesting. They also gave us the exact location to the Crowley Castle (ie. - the few rocks that remain). When we were in the area yesterday we didn't know exactly where it was. Next time we come back with the rest of the Crowley's we will check it out!!!
Today we traveled along the coast of the Beara Pennisula. Unfortunately, it was so foggy it was hard to see for the majority of the trip around. Finally at the end we got some great shots. Unbelievable!!!!
We also went to the Killarney National Park. Again... unbelievable!!! The Torc Waterfall was breathtaking.... but so were the rest of the views.
Sorry to be quick here at the end... but my fish and chips are here and I am hungry!!!
Love you....
XOXOXO
